'Your Highness' & 'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World' Official Press Shots

There are a ton of film’s that I am looking forward to in 2010, but I have a soft spot for two in particular: “Your Highness”, starring Danny McBride and Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”.

The site Rope of Silicon has scored the first official photos for both movies, and each gives a small idea about what the films will be like.

The photo for “Your Highness” shows off James Franco and Danny McBride on horseback, with Franco also giving Zooey Deschanel’s princess character a ride. Directed by David Gordon Green, the upcoming medieval stoner comedy follows an arrogant, lazy prince (McBride) and his more heroic brother (Franco) on a quest to save their father's kingdom.

Over the past couple year’s I have fallen in love with McBride’s work and the usual group of filmmakers he works with. Between “Eastbound and Down”, “Pineapple Express” and also his appearance in “The Heartbreak Kid”, I think McBride is one of the funniest talents in Hollywood today.

“Highness” reunites McBride back together with his “Pineapple” co-star, Franco, and director, Green. In fact, McBride and Gordon Green have been friends for a long time, meeting as students at the North Carolina School of the Arts. I think the chemistry of the crew and the talent of McBride will make this film one of 2010’s biggest surprises.

A couple shots of Edgar Wright’s comic adaptation “Scott Pilgrim” were also released, one group shot, showing off the main characters, and an action shot centered on Michael Cera, who plays the title role of Scott.

‘Scott Pilgrim' is about a Canadian slacker and bass guitarist for the garage band Sex Bob-omb. The 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The only catch? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. He must defeat them in battle to win the heart of the girl he loves.

The group pic shows off that Wright has a cadre of talented young actors on his hands, including Cera, Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill and Brandon Routh. The second image is an awesome shot of a fight sequence, where Cera's character appears to be brandishing a fiery light saber of some kind. Up top you can see a glimpse of Jason Schwartzman's Gideon Graves hipster villain character in a white blazer, with Winstead's Ramona Flowers character nearby.

“Highness” is set for an October 1st release date, while the release for “Scott Pilgrim” is still up in the air.
