'Kick-Ass' Gets A Safe-For-Work Trailer

Most of the footage we have seen from Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass” has been pretty much the characters doing just that--kicking ass. The first teasers were filled with cursing and violence but in the first full trailer for the film, we finally see some plot and what this movie actually will be about.

For the uneducated, “Kick-Ass” is the funny, violent and action-packed flick about a teen who decides to become a real-life superhero.

The trailer features some great scenes from the film--including a funny bit that addresses the similarities between the costume of Big Daddy (played by Nicolas Cage) and the uniform of Gotham's favorite Dark Knight.

There also are a few great scenes with Hit Girl (played by Chloe Moretz), who's rumored to be the film's breakout star, as well as The Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) cruising the streets.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if there's anything they could possibly show me to make me doubt this movie.

Plus, it's the first trailer to really focus on the bad guy played by Mark Strong, who seems to own the "it-villian" title right now, with his turn in “Sherlock Holmes” as Lord Blackwood.

If there’s one negative thing I’ll say about that trailer is that Mintz-Plasse looks like he's just playing a cape-sporting McLovin. Still, I think that it’s just the trailer playing to an audience who has all seen “Superbad,” and he'll actually be something much nastier.

Although I haven't read the comic, I know that Kick-Ass and Red Mist team up and do some damage. He definitely has more to do than twist his ankle.

But that's only a minor flaw in a trailer clearly shows why this is one of the most anticipated movies of 2010.

"Kick-Ass" hits theaters April 16, 2010. Check out the trailer here.
