Taylor Lautner Under Tom Cruise's "Lights"
17-year-old "Twilight Saga" co-star Taylor Lautner is tipped to star in the Tom Cruise thriller "Northern Lights" at Skydance Productions, reports Deadline Hollywood.
According to the site: Unlike his ‘Twilight’ co-stars who went on to 'darker' indie-type films, Taylor Lautner is headed straight for the land of blockbusters to star alongside Tom Cruise in the aeronautic romance, “Northern Lights.”
The story follows a gifted, young, aerobatics pilot (Lautner) who faces off with his controlling, billionaire father (Cruise) and falls in love with a gifted, female pilot. John Moore ("Max Payne," "Behind Enemy Lines") directs the project, which David Ellison will produce.
The deal for the film is supposed to be worth $7.5 million and makes Lautner easily the highest paid Hollywood teenage actor around.
While not exactly a sequel for “Top Gun,” the plot is familiar territory for Cruise. It’s also pretty amazing to note how quickly Lautner rose to such heights. Barely known before his role in the ‘Twilight’ films, the actor is now getting paid more than anyone his age.
“Northern Lights” is expected to start production this April.
