Olivia Wilde Rides With "Cowboys & Aliens"

Olivia Wilde ("Tron Legacy") is in negotiations to star in the comic adaptation "Cowboys & Aliens" for Dreamworks Pictures and Platinum Studios, says Heat Vision.

According to Heat Vision: Olivia Wilde is in negotiations to star opposite Daniel Craig in the sci-fi Western “Cowboys & Aliens,” which Jon Favreau is directing for DreamWorks Studios.

The sci-fi Western explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies--cowboys and Native Americans--found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.

Wilde will play a character named Ella who joins up with a mysterious gunslinger (Daniel Craig) trying to prevent the invasion. Craig is taking over the role from Robert Downey Jr., who dropped out in January.

Favreau will direct from a script by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. Kurtzman, Orci, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Brian Grazer are producing.

This film has a lot of great talent attached to it already, and adding Wilde to the mix will be a good move as well. The actress has a busy year ahead of her, with the release of “Tron Legacy” coming later this year as well.

The script should be excellent with a writing team like Kurtzman, Orci and Lindelof. The trio was responsible for last summer’s “Star Trek,” and Lindelof is the executive producer of “Lost."

“Cowboys & Aliens” will shoot later this year.
