Orlando Bloom Visits "The Good Doctor"

"Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Lord of the Rings" hunk Orlando Bloom is set to headline the indie drama "The Good Doctor," says The Hollywood Reporter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter: Orlando Bloom is toplining "The Good Doctor," an indie drama in which Michael Pena, Troy Garity, and Courtney Ford will co-star.

The story centers on a frustrated doctor (Bloom) looking to impress his superiors and colleagues. When his 18-year-old patient, admitted for a kidney infection, provides him with the esteem he so craves, the doctor tampers with her treatment so that she'll have to stay at the hospital with him.

The film will star Pena as an orderly who discovers the doctor's budding relationship and blackmails him for prescription painkillers, Garity as a successful and self-assured doctor, and Ford as a woman who has eyes for Bloom's character. Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons are also in negotiations to co-star.

Bloom also is producing the film while his producing partner Sharon Miller will executive produce. Lance Daly directs from a script by John Enbom ("Veronica Mars").

This film sounds as if it will be a very interesting project, and it’s also good to see Bloom will also produce, which is something he has had experience with before. Bloom starred in and produced the 2006 film “Haven,” which also starred Zoe Saldana and Anthony Mackie, and was easily one of the most underrated of that year.

Filming on "The Good Doctor" kicks off this week in Los Angeles.
