Downey Confirms "Gravity", Talks "Holmes 2"

Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi-thriller "Gravity" is his next immediate project followed by Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" sequel reports MTV News.

According to MTV News: Downey confirmed that he'll be doing "Gravity" next, with director Alfonso Cuaron, and then following that up with the "Holmes" sequel.

The 'Holmes' sequel kicks off this fall and while it will mostly shoot in London, Downey expects to "be abroad" saying "A bit of Paris, a bit of Switzerland by the end, if I'm not mistaken".

That last bit could allude to the filmmakers using the famous ending of "The Final Problem" in which both Holmes and Moriarty seemingly fall to their death at Reichenbach Falls (Holmes ultimately survives). As its already been stated that Moriarty will serve as the film's villain, it would come as no surprise if the events in 'Problem' are incorporated into the script.

Downey's not sure if Rachel McAdams' Irene Adler character will also return: "It's hard to say. Because Irene Adler only appeared in one of the stories of Doyle's reservoir of activities. But we'll find out quickly."

He's also not sure if they'll do it 3D but says "you're leaving a bunch of dough on the table if you don't shoot something in 3-D."

Although I didn’t think it was perfect, I really enjoyed “Sherlock Holmes” and I thought Downey Jr. was brilliant with the way he took on the classic character. Hopefully the sequel will build on the quality parts of the first film to make an awesome follow up, much like how “The Dark Knight” was to “Batman Begins”.

Also, hearing that two talents like Cuaron and Downey will be working together on a sci-fi project has got me excited. I thought “Children of Men” was brilliant and it’ll be interesting to see what Cuaron does with “Gravity”.

Downey will shoot "Gravity" in London this summer.

"The Hangover" Sequel Ready To Go

After months of negotiations, things look ready for "The Hangover" sequel to head into production over at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures says Deadline Hollywood.

According to Deadline Hollywood: The original film's three key stars Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms are each set to be paid around $5 million against 4% of first dollar gross. Director/producer Todd Phillips will also be paid around $10 million against 10% along with bonuses should the sequel prove as popular as the original.

The salary jump is huge, the three stars earned less than $1 million combined for their roles in the original which has become the biggest grossing R-rated comedy in history. Because the studios didn't think the raunchy comedy would turn out to be a hit let alone such a major one, they didn't have sequel option deals in place with the stars.

This allowed for some tough and drawn out negotiating which dragged on for several months. Now it seems, everything is in place, with an October start of shooting being targeted depending upon Ed Helms "The Office" production schedule.

The fourth and mostly missing cast member Justin Bartha is also set to return, and the studio is already targeting a Memorial Day 2011 release. Hell yes.

Robert De Niro Up For A "Midnight Run" Sequel

Universal Pictures is looking into developing a sequel to 1988 action-comedy road movie "Midnight Run."

According to The Hollywood Reporter: Universal and Robert De Niro are getting ready for another run. The studio is developing a sequel to "Midnight Run," the 1988 action comedy that starred De Niro as a bounty hunter.

In the profanity-laced original, Robert De Niro starred as a bounty hunter on a cross-country journey attempting to bring back his latest catch, an embezzler (Charles Grodin).

Timothy Dowling ("Role Models") will pen the script for the follow-up which will team De Niro's character with a young comedic foil. De Niro and Jane Rosenthal will produce.

Though not a major hit, the film was critically well-received and has scored a strong following in the two subsequent decades since it's release.

“Midnight Run” is a hilarious film and if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth watching. Although De Niro may have lost a step or two over the years, I think this could end up being a great sequel.
