Patrick Warburton Joins MacFarlane's "Ted"

Seth MacFarlane has already dominated the animation world with his hit series "Family Guy," and with his new film "Ted," he is looking to make his first foray into live action comedy and its shaping up to be quite the project.

The film has an already stacked cast and has just added another comedic vet to the fold. According to Deadline Patrick Warburton has joined the cast of MacFarlane's "Ted" at Universal Pictures.

The story revolves around a thirty-something Boston man (Mark Wahlberg) whose childhood teddy bear came to life and is now a cursing, smoking, delinquent that prevents the man from maturing. Warburton will play Guy, a sexually confused Enterprise Rent-A-Car co-worker of Wahlberg's character.

The films cast is already deep with Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale also starring, and now having Warburton just adds another layer to the project. The film sounds like it’s a perfect project for MacFarlane, and having Wahlberg in the lead role is just too good to be true. While the actor might be better known for his dramatic or action work, he clearly is comfortable in comedy as seen in "The Other Guys," which was absolutely hilarious.

I'll always love Warburton for his Puddy character on "Seinfeld" and I can see him playing off the other cast members in the movie very well.

The film will start production later this year.

Mark Wahlberg Sells Comedy Pilot 'Home Game' to CBS

Although Mark Wahlberg might be disappointed that he didn't get an Oscar nomination for his amazing performance in "The Fighter," at least he can fall back on his producing career for some happiness. As if producing successful shows like "Entourage" and "How to Make It In America" for HBO weren't enough, CBS has just picked up another half-hour series from Wahlberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The multi-camera comedy pilot "Home Game" is inspired by the life of three-time Super Bowl champion and NFL pro Mark Schlereth. The CBS TV Studios/Leverage pilot is from executive producers Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson and writers-executive producers Chris Nowak and Warren Bell.

Essentially, the show is about a retired NFL player who returns home to his wife and daughters. Schlereth, currently an ESPN commentator, also will help to produce the show.

Unrelated to Wahlberg, it marks the second ESPN-related pilot pickup by CBS. The network also picked up a comedy pilot inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd's talk show, "The Herd with Colin Cowherd."

While many former players usually find their way into the sports media, many of them usually are just caricatures and never really add much to the game or sportscast. Schlereth, on the other hand, is fantastic in his analysis and has one of the best actually personalities on TV. A funny little tidbit to add: Schlereth is a frequent guest on Cowherd's radio show.

The reason I know that is because I actually listen to the radio show every weekday, which is one reason why I am glad to see both these shows picked up. Both guys are clearly hard workers and both are funny while working on the air, and I can see at least one of, if not both of these shows, become successful come next fall--or whenever it is that they air.

HBO, 'Entourage' Team Go to Washington

HBO is reteaming with the producers behind Entourage to develop a politically charged series reports Variety.

According to Variety: Mark Wahlberg, Doug Ellin and Stephen Levinson, the successful team behind the Emmy-winning comedy 'Entourage,' are working on a new, untitled series that follows the relationship between a political aide and his boss, the former President of the United States.

The script comes from Ben Scherwin, who will also serve as co-executive producer alongside Wahlberg, Ellin and Levinson.

The show will continue a very fruitful relationship between the 'Entourage' team and HBO. Currently, they're prepping the Prohibition-era drama 'Boardwalk Empire' from Martin Scorsese, as well as the third season of 'In Treatment,' both of which are scheduled to premiere in the fall.

I think this project has potential to be another hit for Wahlberg and Friends. Much like the way “Entourage” explores the day-to-day operations of celebrity life, the new show will focus on the day-to-day dealings of politics and government. It’s an interesting world to explore, and depending on who they cast it could turn out to be HBO’s next sleeper hit.

On the acting side, Wahlberg can currently be seen on the big screen in Peter Jackson's adaptation of 'The Lovely Bones.' He's also prepping three films to be released later this year, including 'The Fighter,' co-starring Christian Bale.
